Preacher, Motivator, Encourager, Friend
Born on April 11, 1960, to Reverend Dewitt and Annie Pearl Rhodes, our Pastor Dr. Vincent Rhodes, was the Rhodes' 5th child and the first to survive a long line of premature deaths of three preceding siblings. After a serious bout with a childhood illness that nearly ended his life, it became very apparent that God had his hands on Pastor Vincent Rhodes and would not allow the enemy to steal him away.
Pastor Rhodes grew up in East St. Louis Illinois, where he attended the Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where the Reverend Dr. W. P. Alexander was the pastor. Since Pastor Vincent Rhodes father was an assistant minister to Pastor Alexander, Pastor Vincent Rhodes enjoyed a close relationship with his childhood Pastor as well as other clergymen. Pastor Rhodes soon discovered that Jesus was the only way, truth and light of the world and gave his life to the Lord as a young child.
This began his quest to become better acquainted with Jesus Christ. As a child, Pastor Rhodes enjoyed listening to sermons and attending revivals. Pastor Rhodes was especially delighted when a preacher would use clever illustrations to communicate the gospel more fully. Pastor Rhodes noted that most people would remember the illustrations, if not the sermon. Pastor Rhodes noted these examples of preaching, and employs them into his animated style of preaching today.
Pastor Rhodes grew up attending the State and National Baptist Congress of Christian Education. Pastor Rhodes received several certificates from the Congress of Christian Education. Pastor Rhodes later taught a beginners Bible class in the Congress of Christian Education, as well as participated in the music workshops. With a love for music, Pastor Rhodes played the piano and the organ for the Baptist Youth Fellowship during his time in the Baptist Conventions.
Pastor Rhodes graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School and attended the McKendree College in Lebanon Illinois. Pastor Rhodes received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Following, Pastor Rhodes attended Harris Stowe State College and receive a Teaching Certificate and began a teaching career. After receiving a Masters Degree in Education Administration, Pastor Rhodes quickly moved up to assistant principal.
Pastor Rhodes served with his father as assistant Pastor of the Christ Redeemed Missionary Baptist Church. There he served in all facets of the ministry and receive his education on being a pastor from his father. Sensing that he needed a formal education in ministry, Pastor Rhodes enrolled in the Lael Christian College where he received his doctorate in ministry; inaddition, Dr. Rhodes received his Masters of Arts in Biblical Studies from Grand Canyon Christian University. Dr. Rhodes is now matriculating for his second Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
